Classes for Phlebotomy CPT-1 are offered Days, Afternoons and Evenings.

The Phlebotomy CPT-1 program prepares students to become a Certified Phlebotomist-CPT 1, who will collect blood samples for a variety of reasons, including medical testing, blood transfusion, and blood donation. Students are trained to collect primarily through venipuncture, as well as other methods including finger stick, heel stick, and butterfly needles.  Students will also additional clinical and administrative procedures including patient briefing, updating patient records, sterilizing equipment, and taking vital signs. Courses in this program include:

Module I (integrated) 20.5 hours

Universal Precautions and Infection Control
Anatomy and Medical Terminology
Skin Puncture Selection and Preparation, Post Puncture, Collection Equipment,
Blood Collection and Proper Identification of Patient


Module II (integrated) 20.5 hours

Medical Waste and Biohazard Containers
Anticoagulation and Arterial Blood Collection
Pre-Analytical Complications and Risk Factors
Ethical Behavior, State Laws and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)


Module III (integrated) 40 hours

Externship
